Community Experiences

Prospective Community Partners

The School and Community Experiences office coordinates the placements for EDUC 201 students.  Students are placed with our community partners in order to fulfill their volunteer hours. Students volunteer for 20 hours over the course of the semester (approximately 2 - 3 hours per week). Our community partners offer volunteer opportunities at schools, after school programs, food pantries, retirement communities, child care facilities, community centers, thrift stores, and more!

Fall semester placements begin in mid-September and continue until early December.

Spring semester placements begin in mid-February and continue until early May.

If you are interested in becoming a community partner, please email us at sce@education.illinois.edu and provide the following information:

  • Name and description of your program
  • Type of volunteer opportunities available
  • Number of openings
  • Volunteering hours
  • Any training or background check requirements

Community partners must designate a site supervisor who would be the student's main contact person and will be responsible for approving student hours and completing short mid term and final evaluations.

Additional questions can be found on the Site Supervisor FAQ document.

We hope to partner with you in the future!
